Enchanted Forest of The Fairies. Circuit bending housed in a cookie box. 2013

The original sound of the music box is actually Indian mantras that I got it from Serangoon Road in Singapore. I circuit bended it and cased it in a cookie box. This will add on to my collection of circuit bended instruments.

ILIGHT MARINA BAY 2012

8 03 2012

i Light Marina Bay, Asia’s first and only sustainable light art festival was first held from 15 October to 7 November in 2010. Presented by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and organised by Smart Light Singapore (SLS), the event celebrated Marina Bay’s nightscape through the showcase of 25 dynamic and innovative light art installations along the 3.5km waterfront promenade. More

Deck Journey is a light and sound installation that explores human memories when capturing visual images. Often when we see a beautiful landscape, the first thing we will do is to capture them via digital devices like cameras, video cameras and mobile phones. Due to digital age, we seldom capture them through our memories and really enjoy the beauty of the landscapes.

In Deck Journey, audience will have the chance to clip their memories and really enjoy the scenery. For this installation, there will be 8 fabricated deck chairs placed at The Promontory @ Marina Bay overlooking the Bay for audience to sit, ponder and enjoy the whole scenery. On top of that, there will be a composed soundscape being played just for the audience. As the speaker is directional, only the one sitting will be able to hear it. The soundscape is about the development of the cityscape.

The design of the deck chair is based on the cloth pecks. The deck chairs are made up of recycled wood and egg trays. As the audience sit and rest their back on the deck chairs, the chairs will be illuminated by led lights giving the audience a sense of rejuvenation. There will be pressure sensors to activate the led lights. When no one is sitting on the chairs, there will be no lights.

Map of the installation.

Deck Journey is no. 25
